AIM File Sharing
AIM file sharing allows
other AIM users to connect to a shared directory on your
computer and download your shared files. The most
common use for this is to share an MP3 folder so your
friends can download your music. To set up AIM file
sharing, bring up your AIM Preferences window by clicking the
preferences icon in the Buddy List toolbar

or by right clicking your
system tray AIM icon.

Now select the
"File Sharing" category on the left hand side,
this will display the File Sharing menu where you will set
up and active AIM file sharing.

In the "Shared file
Location" box, select the directory you want to share
by clicking the "Browse..." button and finding
the folder on your hard drive. Now you can decide
who you want to have access to your shared folder under
the "File Access" options. If you only
want to allow a certain group of people to have access to
your shared folder, check off the box and selecting the
group from the drop down. Otherwise, choose the appropriate
option for users on your buddy list, and users not on your
buddy list.
Leave the rest of the
setting how they are and click "OK". You
can now tell your friends that they can download files
from your shared folder by right clicking on your screen
name and going to "Get File..."
