Deleting Old Screen Names

To delete a screen name that you don't use anymore, open the AIM Sign On box

Now select the screen name that you want to delete using the drop down box

Once you have the old screen name selected, press the "Delete" button on your keyboard.  This will bring up a delete confirmation dialog box

Click "Yes" to delete the old screen name from your computer.  Unfortunately, this will not delete the screen name from the AIM server, so it will still be registered under the email account you created it with.  This is not a problem unless you are trying to create a new screen name and you get this error:

"We're unable to process your registration. You have already registered the maximum number of screen names for your AOL Instant Messenger account."

If you are getting that message, you can create a new screen name using a different email address.  If you do not have a second email address to register the new screen name under, you can sign up for a free email account using Hotmail.  Once your hotmail account has been created, you can use that new email address to create additional screen names.
